THIS SPECIAL EVENT (takes place the day before the “NORDBY WOOLDAYS
by Fanø Strikkefestival 2022” begins) 15. September 2022 | 09.30 – 17.00
FAIR ISLE FROM SHETLAND TO FANØ
PAMPERING day for everyone, who loves FAIR-ISLE, both for beginners and experienced knitters.
We meet at 09.30 for a light breakfast in our local town house “STRIEN” in Nordby, then we are off for a very busy and inspiring day, where not only 4 of the most wellknown designers/knitters from Shetland, such as Elizabeth Johnston, Janette Budge, Wilma Malcolmson and Terri Laura will keep you on your toes when they show techniques and talk about Shetland. This part will be in English.
We continue to the contemporary fair-isle when knitwear designer CHRISTEL SEYFARTH transforms inspiration from a painting, made by local painter MARGIT ENGGAARD, into models, using fair-isle techniques. Christel will let you in on the process from picking colours, making patterns and other decisions to make, before it all turns into new garments, knitted in fair-isle technique.
On a big screen we will show Christel’s and the Shetland knitters' techniques.
Finally, one of the most known trend researchers, LOUISE BYG KONGSHOLMS, CEO of the PEJ-GROUP, will let you in on the upcoming trends. This is a fantastic way to achieve inspiration and knowledge about trends, and this lecture is normally reserved for professionals within the fashion trade.
Besides the features with HAZEL TINDALL, the spoken language will be in Danish. However, lots of pictures will be shown, and even though you do not understand Danish, we will do our utmost to make you feel comfortable and to translate, whenever possible.
It will be an intense day with lots of new knowledge of how the designers work and to learn their techniques.
All this is supplemented with great food, and drinks during the day. We end the inspiring day with bubbles and snacks before we go home, all warmed up for the upcoming knitting festival which opens it doors the following day.
In the fee, everything is included, also food and drinks.
